Lee S. Scheinbart, M.D.
Hematology/Oncology

Dr. Scheinbart grew up outside of Akron, Ohio and upon high school graduation he spent a year in New York City studying philosophy and political science at the Jewish Theological Seminary and Columbia University. He then earned a B.S. (cum laude) in Biology from the University of Michigan. At that point, he returned to Ohio and earned his M.D. at The Ohio State University. Dr. Scheinbart then spent 5 years in Gainesville, Florida at the University of Florida/Shands Hospital for his post-graduate training. During that time he trained in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology. The American Board of Internal Medicine has granted Dr. Scheinbart certificates in both Internal Medicine and Oncology.

While in Gainesville, Dr. Scheinbart spent time performing research on the immunologic responses that occur in patients diagnosed with breast cancer. He also participated in clinical trials and bone marrow transplants at the Shands Cancer Center. In 1998, Dr Scheinbart moved to Melbourne and joined MIMA. Since his arrival he has chaired several cancer program committees at Holmes Regional Medical Center and also served as a Board Member for Hospice of Health First. Dr. Scheinbart was instrumental in the development of both the Williams Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay and later the MIMA Cancer Center in Melbourne. Further, Dr. Scheinbart has been a very vocal advocate for the rights of patients under Medicare, frequently traveling to Washington, D.C. in order to meet with legislators and industry representatives. Dr. Scheinbart’s practice is part of the MIMA Cancer Center, an expanding component of MIMA featuring the latest in clinical research, chemotherapy, biologic, and radiation therapies for the patients with cancer.
